Jeff Beckham
My work explores the relationship between justice, faith, and American history. With influences as diverse as Kerry James Marshall, Annie Lee, and Hebru Brantley, abstract elements are synthesized from both explicit and implicit realism. Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by the intersection of faith and the human capacity for good. This fascination shows up in my work. I started drawing as a child because I wanted to be like my father Jeffery Beckham Sr. who was a talented graphic artist. Using spatial forms and color in practice, the viewer is left with a clue to where the cliff of our hope and liberation exists.
